Hi. This is your number one fan talking to you. :) I can't believe that you are retiring, thank god I saw you when I could. You are so inspirational to ammature soccer players like myself, and our rock when it comes to the hard stuff. This is your thank you letter.
I remember when I was little, and you would come on the T.V playing soccer and how I wish I could be you. Not Mia Hamm, you. You changed my whole out look on the the lovely game called soccer, you showed me and taught me so many things no one else could. You stood to be the figure of soccer, and to show me that if you work hard, you get what you want. You have made it so very far, and it still amazes me every single day.
When I realized that soccer was more than just a sport to me, I immediately turned to you. I can't even tell you how many times I have watched your plays and slow mo's of your perfect bends. I can honestly say, that I'm not that bad at a "Beckham Bend".
When I have my bad days at practice, when i'm hurt and healing, or when I'm put on the bench, I realize that you were there too. Just like me, having bad moments. You saved my love towards soccer. You saved my whole outlook on everything. I can only dream of being half as good as you. You, David, have a mind blowing talent that not a lot of people have, and I have loved to watch it play out on the pitch.
When I don't know what to do, I get out those videos and watch your kicks over and over again. I don't know how you make your job seem so effortless, but you sure do a damn good job at it. I will never forget my first Galaxy game. I almost burst into tears when I saw that great #23.
Just know, that I look up to you, amongst millions, and that you make me a better person. Thank you David Beckham. Thank. You.
Love,
Madison
